The first post but certainly not the last.
What’s my next step? Where am I going? I don’t know…
For the longest time, I thought I needed to know all the answers. As if there were only moments to spare until all the chances I would have would float away into oblivion. A fear that my future could be forever gone with a simple slip up and mismanagement of time or effort. The anxiety and uncertainty that filled my head I’ve come to find is the mere distraction inhibiting me from accomplishing all that I would like to. So, instead of accepting the terrible cycle of complacency and worry, I have chosen to publicly acknowledge these things, in hopes of a few results:
- That whoever is reading this, can hopefully relate or understand to a certain degree of what I’m saying and from there, either provide feedback or share their thoughts.
- That in this practice, I can identify the things holding me back and the things I need to further pursue. When you write in private, there is a privacy which is important but frankly holds little responsibility. When it is shared, it becomes more real and dependent, which requires action.
- That in these posts I can hopefully encourage others in their journey and show them they are not alone as I am not. In that, building up a community of individuals who are in the pursuit of similar goals and values.
What do I intend to do?
With the new year ringing in, there is always a lot of pressure to make certain changes in your life to show some form of improvement from the prior year. While I value these efforts and see good habits formed, it can often create a lot of pressure and discouragement in the process. I will still participate in these yearly renewed or refreshed goals, and I’d like to share that experience with you. I’d like to create a place here where I have the opportunity to share whether it is daily, weekly, monthly or even occasionally. My hope is that there is an opportunity for you to find out more about me, for me to find out more about you and together to encourage each other through this.
What is this?
If it isn’t obvious, this is a blog. I’m sure by the question, you intended to find the segment, description or goal of some sort. Other than what I mentioned above, this is a place where I will continue to update the public on a few things:
- My thoughts and feelings on life
- My goals for the present and the future
- My reflection on the past
- My achievements and accomplishments
- My ideas, hopes and dreams
There is also another side of this which I intend to gain from you, while in fact this is a “blog” about me, I don’t want it to necessarily just be that. I want it to be a medium for you to use to express what I’ve mentioned in the bullet points about you. In that, the hope is that with two minds, we can together accomplish the things we want to, understand the things we desire to and lead others to do the same.
This is what I would like to see and have the chance to share:
- Your thoughts and feelings on life
- Your goals for the present and the future
- Your reflection on the past
- Your achievements and accomplishments
- Your ideas, hopes and dreams
What now?
As for most of the things I begin, the structure is often not as “planned” out as I’d like it to be. I hope that as I begin to post more frequent there will be engagement and guidance on tips or conversations that need to be had. This could branch off into the podcast I plan to form, or this could become a vlog. There are many routes I could take this idea and while not fully formed or clear, I intend to develop that as time goes on and what I ask from you is feedback and understanding.
In conclusion…
There is something I would like to share publicly, something that I believe I am sharing due to the responsibility it creates in me. When I share this with you, it is now out there, it is no longer a hidden dream and rather and spoken possible reality with an expectation. That creates pressure, which I want. That creates a duty, which I want. That creates an image, which I want.
What I’ve done is written down thirty goals by the age of thirty. Something, that is personal and silly to some degree. What I have written down has meaning to me in some degree as it is what I’ve considered when forming this list. Now, the list has a lot (mostly) ambitious goals, many of which are very difficult if not statistically impossible to achieve at any age let alone the age of thirty. In no way is every single goal a requirement, nor is every goal expected to occur. What I want to make clear is, that it is not about the number of goals achieved, rather it is what you do to achieve those goals. In hopes that those efforts can be shared among others, not something private and reserved rather something shared and achieved with others. Life is nothing without community, to forget or take for granted the community surrounding you makes it not much of a life. So, when sharing these things, remember this:
- Not all of these goals define who I am, nor does not achieving all of them make me less of who I am.
- The intention is to create a mindset that is forward thinking but presently present creating a fruitful life.
- Some of these goals are obviously shared with values and principles, while others are merely materialistic or in some way self-serving. Do not combine the two, while they are both worth mentioning they do not share the same gravity.
- These goals can and I’m sure will change from one point to another, the point is to create a mindset again per the first point.

My hopes with this
To finish, my hope is that through this post and the ones to come, that you have the chance to either relate, understand or find something that resonates with you. If not that, then I hope you are able to share with me what you think and how you feel. Something I would love to see is for you to possibly create a list similar to the one above. You don’t have to share it while I would love to read it, I understand that level of privacy. Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope to continue to share and hopefully with more direction come the next post. If you have any comments or questions, please reach out and I would love to talk. I look forward to hearing from you, but if not, then as always, stay classy. 🙂
Oh, and Happy New Year!!
